legacy posts

I started this blog in February 2020 with an open mind, and I wrote about whatever was on my mind at the time. In August 2023, I decided to focus the blog on writing and living with awareness and intention, but I didn’t want to scrap all the writing I’d done previously since I know some of the content is linked from other places. So I decided to make that content available here.

A lot of these posts are product-related. Things don’t buy us happiness, but they can sometimes make our lives easier. I invest a fair amount of time and money finding things to to do exactly that, and I wanted to continue to share my experience in here, hoping my experience helps others in some small way.

Unless otherwise noted in the individual post, the items discussed in these posts were purchased with my own money, and I didn’t receive any compensation for writing the post. All opinions are mine alone based on my own experience with these products. I do not and cannot make any claim that anyone else’s experience with these products will be the same.

Japanese-Inspired Floor Desk: DIY Version

A little over a year ago, I set up the Uppeal Floor-Sit-Stand Desk and disassembled my Japanese-inspired floor desk. It was not economical to maintain two different workstations for computers, and I thought the fully adjustable desk would allow enough variation to do creative work at my work desk. I was mistaken. I don’t mind creative…

Uppeal Fully Adjustable Floor-Sit-Stand Desk Review

The Uppeal Floor-Sit-Stand desk is the desk I dreamed about back in 2019 when I set up my Japanese-inspired floor desk. I thought about DIYing an adjustable floor-sit-stand desk myself but couldn’t figure out how to make the mechanism work with that kind of range. So I decided to have a floor desk for writing…

A Comprehensive List of My Work-From-Home Must-Haves

Over the years, I’ve tried a lot of office equipment in an effort to make my workstation the most comfortable it can be. I’ve also written a few articles about what I use, including a list for shorter folks like myself: And one for setting up a workstation on the floor: But I haven’t collected…

My Favorite Walking Gear

Since March 2023, I’ve been walking nearly every day for exercise. I actually enjoy walking immensely but find it’s one of the most underrated forms of exercise. I started out with a goal to walk 10,000 steps per day, but that ended up being too difficult on my body, so I dropped it down to…

The Original Groove® Pillow vs Cushion Lab Cervical Neck Pillow

I admit I’m constantly buying new pillows. I have purchased many, many pillows over the last couple years in a quest to find one that relieves my chronic neck and shoulder pain. I’ve tried soft and firm foams, down alternative, cotton, buckwheat, combinations, and probably more types of fillings that I’m not remembering right now.…

A Wish List for the Fitbit App

Sometimes I really like the Fitbit app and sometimes I think it’s weird. Like I’ve said before, the data and information presentation are great, but certain organizational things don’t make sense to me. Notification settings being in multiple places (I mentioned in my first post) is a good example, though that’s not a big deal…

What happened in Natural Cycles when my ŌURA battery failed?

Using ŌURA x Natural Cycles for temperature measurement could be the modern update needed for oral temperatures. But what happens when the battery fails? Update March 2023: ŌURA released a firmware update for the ring that improved the battery issue I was experiencing. I don’t wear it during the day anymore, so I can’t say…

Fitbit Sense 2 Review: Past the point of no return with no regrets

The return window on my Fitbit Sense 2 officially closed a couple weeks ago, and I’m pretty pleased with the watch. I had a bit of a bumpy start with syncing issues and some other complaints, but it’s really grown on me these last 6 weeks. A little background: I switched to iPhone and got…

My Favorite Items for Travel

I don’t travel very often, but when I do, it’s stressful so I want to keep the experience as low stress as I can manage. Part of what helps keep my stress levels down when I’m on a journey is having all my stuff organized and feeling prepared for the things I can prepare for.…
